Abstract

This research explores the role of technology in transforming educational management practices across urban and rural schools in Indonesia, focusing on challenges, benefits, and opportunities within diverse educational settings. Using a qualitative approach, data were gathered through interviews and focus group discussions with administrators, teachers, and government education officials, alongside an analysis of relevant secondary sources. Findings reveal significant disparities in technological access and utilization between urban and rural schools, with urban institutions benefiting from better infrastructure, frequent digital literacy training, and extensive use of digital communication platforms. In contrast, rural schools encounter challenges such as limited internet connectivity, insufficient digital resources, and inadequate technical support, which hinder effective technology adoption. The study underscores the critical role of digital literacy and targeted infrastructure investments in facilitating equitable technology integration across regions. Practical implications suggest a need for policy-level interventions to provide reliable internet access, training resources, and technical support, particularly in rural areas. This research contributes to the understanding of technology’s impact on educational management in Indonesia, highlighting the need for tailored solutions to bridge existing digital divides and support a cohesive and efficient educational system.
