Abstract

The implementation of the Independent Curriculum in Islamic Senior High Schools (Madrasah Aliyah) aims to improve the quality of learning through a project-based approach, differentiated learning, and strengthening student character. This study aims to analyze the impact of the Independent Curriculum implementation on Islamic Religious Education (PAI) learning and identify challenges and opportunities in its implementation. Using a qualitative case study method, this research involved interviews with madrasah principals and PAI teachers, student questionnaires, and direct classroom observations. The results indicate that the Independent Curriculum contributes positively to improving students' understanding of Islamic concepts and their engagement in the learning process. However, key challenges remain, such as a lack of training for teachers in designing Islamic value-based projects, limited learning facilities, and varying levels of student engagement. This study confirms that the implementation of the Independent Curriculum in PAI in Madrasah Aliyah requires more concrete policy support, more comprehensive teacher training, and strengthening of educational infrastructure. This study provides recommendations for Islamic educational institutions to develop more innovative and effective learning strategies to support project-based learning in madrasah.
